positive intelligence© builds mental fitness

Mental fitness is defined by Shirzad Chamine, developer of the Positive Intelligence© program as the ability to respond to all of life’s challenges with a positive rather than a negative mindset. The result is peak performance, peace of mind, wellness and healthy relationships.

Positive Intelligence© incorporates elements of mindfulness, positive psychology, emotional intelligence and neuroscience in a unique way which it makes it more understandable and accessible to most people. Based on scientific research and his experience coaching hundreds of CEOs and executive teams, Stanford students and world-class athletes, Shirzad used factor analysis to break down the ways we self-sabotage into 10 basic negative thought patterns which he calls saboteurs.

He found that these negative thought patterns could be counteracted by first recognizing when they occur and interrupting them by doing 10-second mindfulness exercises that he calls PQ reps. Then we intentionally cultivate a positive mindset, which he calls the Sage Perspective, with 5 positive thought patterns he calls Sage Powers. What makes this system unique is the app that he has developed to support the practice and make it into a habit that can be maintained over time.

Good for Leaders, Good for Teams

Emotional intelligence is a critical leadership skill

It has long been known that emotional intelligence (EQ) is more important than cognitive intelligence (IQ) in determining leadership success and team success. Until recently, there has been no systematic way to train leaders in emotional intelligence that has had proven results. Follow-up studies of leaders who have gone through the Positive Intelligence© course demonstrate improvements of more than 80% in the key areas of emotional intelligence: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management.

Teams that train together grow together

Only 20% of teams perform up to their potential. The reason is that on 80% of teams, individuals knowingly or unknowingly sabotage their own and the team’s effectiveness. By taking the Positive Intelligence© course together, team members can develop a common language and common platform to support individual and team growth, develop mutual trust and accountability, and resolve conflicts in a healthy way. The net result is improved individual and team performance and well-being.
